I traded a couple 10/22s and a 223 Remington I'd won in raffles. They were new in the box. I bought my old Winchester model 100 in 308 in 1973, and I thought I'd retire it. I like the 308 caliber. I've shot a lot of critters with it over the years. It's killed its share of prairie dogs, an antelope and many deer. So, this year I will use this new one, and alternate with the Marlin 336.

It has a Vortex scope - 3-9/40

Hard to beat the 308.

The 308 gets a lot of respect in the ballistic charts good choice.

Nice! My model 70 in 308 was made in 1953 but it has that boring walnut stock. I may have to spray paint it black or camo.

I have nothing clever to put here.

Good choice on the XPR. Many of these new rifles have such an easy bolt lift that high grass or slight contact will lift the bolt and if the rifle is on your shoulder the bolt opens and cartridge is ejected.

The XPR has a locking bolt. I would not buy a new rifle without that feature.

So do you have to take the rifle off safe to open the bolt like the old Remingtons?
