I made a belt out of squirrel skins back around 9th grade.

How many deer do you average per year, Providence? How many does/can your family consume? Is deer your major source of meat.
We have been fortunate enough to mostly rely on moose and caribou for our meat. Musk Ox back when we lived in Nome!

Last year the boys shot 6 deer but let at least 12 each walk. This year they are now at 5 so far if they dont get at least 10 and they should I will kill a few but i dont think I will need to. Depending on deer size we can easily consume 10 many more if I make it into jerky, snap sticks oe salami but the jerkey really goes fast. We also eat a lot of squirrel, a few rabbits, and most beaver that get trapped.

Deer probably makes up 75 to 80% of our red meat just guessing. I prefer it to beef most of the time but I do enjoy a good beef steak.

We raise chickens for eggs and meat, rabbits for meat and to sell as pets and goats for milk and cheese making. Wife grows a huge garden, we make maple syrup, and I also keep bees. We are very bless to be able to do so much for our self. I plan on building a walk in cooler and raising some hogs and cows as well but I never seem to have enough hours in the day or cash I'm willing to spend to pay someone else to do it.
