I want to get one for ground blind hunting and maybe squirrel hunting. I like the Primos gen 3 but the tall one looks to tall for a blind and the short one not tall enough for squirrel. I don't want both so any thoughts on the Primos or other brands y'all like? Thanks!

I wonder if tap dancers walk into a room, look at the floor, and think, I'd tap that. I wonder about things.....

For ground blind I got a Cadwell field pod. It's an adjustable tripod that the gun or an Xbow sits in swivels and tilt. I got it becus my bi pods were to short to shoot out of the groundblind windows and it's amazing. I got it for the kids when they were small and it's how my boys could shot accurately enough at 7 to drop their first dear at 103 and 97 yards. Had it not been for that rest thay would have been limited to 45 yards or so. I think it was about 125 when I bought it.

For squirrel I just cut a nice straight stick I think now it's a 6' poplar sapling and use it for a rest like I would if it were growing out of the ground. It works great not needing to get to a tree to brace against only to find you can't get a clear shot from the tree due to foliage. It's also nice for balance geting up and down ditches and on uneven ground.

Dad has shooting sticks I've used them they are ok, I bought a bipod that connects to the swivel where the sling is I like it a ton, just won't sit up high enough for a blind
Son started shooting and bought a field pod for him, and I love it as well. If I was to g
Go any route I would field pod it as well,

[video:google]https://photos.app.goo.gl/G92u4PpSSxg8SA3W7[/video]. This is cam using his shooting a big boy gun as he calls it for first time. The target is about 60yards it takes away a lot of movement, adjusted up and down, gun can sit balanced while waiting no need to place at the time of game you just get in the scope and shoot.

Zim bought me the DeathGrip a few years ago after seeing it on a TV show doing new product reviews that year.

It is a bit of overkill if you're asking about shooting sticks, but it is so sweet to clamp a firearm onto it and then take your hands off of it completely. It stays solid and balanced, and can be allowed to swivel or adjust with as little or as much effort as you want.

It is too good. It is not even fair. laugh laugh laugh

I have 2 sets of the Primos sticks. I bought the tall one and rarely use it. The smaller one works good in a blind and will even adjust down for turkey hunting for my kids.

Patrice, that's a nice one for sure.

Sniper, I'm looking for a all around set, if that's possible. If the Gen three tall can be used in a blind I could also use it as a mono pod for squirrel like Prov mentioned.

If you’re not walking cross country, the Bog DeathGrip is hard to beat.

If you’re doing a lot of walking the Primos Gen 3 Tripod is the ticket. I walk with it like a monopod at night and deploy the tripod (spread the legs) when I have time to set up. It’s very lightweight and real easy to deploy. I get it set for walking and leave the strap off at the bottom so I can just spread the legs when needed.

I was at ST Vinnys the other day and found one of those High end 3 legged camera stands. It cost me $9.00 It went straight to my blind. It does every thing but clean the kitchen sink. And I even had a padded V for the top.

I use BOG. I have a set of bi-pod shooting sticks I use for stalking and a tripod out of a stand. I also have a light pair made out of Sapele wood when I need to cut down on weight. Sticks pay off big time after crawling on your belly for 4 hours after trying not to get winded by a wise Gembuck. or a lone bull Sable.

I have one of the light weight BOG tripod sticks adjustable from shooting prone all the way to standing. You can keep the legs strapped together and use as a monopod and/or a walking stick. I also have a BOG death grip and it is awesome but I wouldn’t want to pack it far. My 5 year old was able to get his first spring gobbler this year inside a blind with his 410 clamped in the BOG death grip

Get Swagger shooting sticks. They fold up nicely, light, the legs are automatic telescoping. My buddy showed them one day a few years back so I bought a set and then a taller set for my daughter

https://www.walmart.com/ip/Allen-Co...minum-Model-21631A/31954264?from=/search I got one of these or maybe two of them. They are all I ever seem to need and I like that it's cheap and compacts so its easy to get through the weeds and brush.

We use the Gen 3 for everything and will take on a moose hunt next year as well. My wife uses them all the time due to shoulder surgeries, really likes them.

A rifleman should learn how to use a sling to support his position, whatever that might be. A model 1907 leather sling or a later web sling can get you rock solid if you know how to use it. You can also use one to carry the rifle to and from wherever your hunting, lol.

While I would agree that is a good skill to practice and have in your shooting technique inventory, there is zero substitute for a rest. Tripod, bipod, pole, resting over a log or limb. Close second would be a proper shooting position. Prone, sitting, kneeling, and lastly off-hand.
With that, to the OP. I have the Night Stalker Tripod & Ball-Head. https://tnvc.com/shop/night-stalker-shooting-tripod-ball-head/
Just got it a couple months ago and like it so far. It seems like a decedent set up to start with. If I continue to want a tripod, to be vetted in the field, I may soon search for a higher end product with a mounting system that the rifle wears permanently and integrates with the tripod. One nice feature the product offers is the monopod feature.
Lots of quality options out there. Good luck and let us know what you go with.
