Nice, love fresh pecans.

All we have here are pignut hickory, you better bring your A game if you want to attempt them, lol

Pecan pie is my favorite pie. I wanted to go to the Ohio Nut Growers Association Fall meeting, which was at an Ohio pecan farm, a couple of weeks ago, but could not walk well enough to go. Their oldest pecan tree is 40. I would love to have some cold hardy, decent tasting pecan trees on my farm.

My tree is about 22 years old. Buddy had picked up a bunch in a stand of timber and put them in a five gallon bucket. Bucket was half full of water and pecans in the spring. Some had sprouted. i planted 3 of those sprouts. Son ran over two with a lawn mower fore I could stop him. Saved one and put a tomato cage over it. Its pretty big now. Keith pm your address and I will send you a few if you want to try planting them. They are a native wild species and take cold very well. I watered it some that first year but just let it grow after that. Took about 10 years to get the first nuts.

Man you live the good life Danny. Never seen a pecan tree around these parts with exception of the one my boss planted in his yard. It's 5 years old and same size as when he planted it. Don't think it's thriving.

Native pecans just starting to drop here. And yes, they are a pig and deer magnet - and coons, squirrels, and crows, too

White Cliffs, The ones I have are shorter. I think they are adapted to the colder winters we have.

My mother gave me a Coby pecan tree for my birthday in 1980 probably it may have produced a couple of gallon of nuts over 43 years, No more than a couple dozen a year usually they were bad this year there are several nuts on the tree but small got my little 17 hmr to protect it maybe a pecan pie out of it as a reward..

Seems to me the correct pronunciation depends on where you live

This native grove has maybe 25 trees. Some of the trees have pecans 3/4” long and more oval, several long ones like the ones in my hand, and one tree with nuts almost the size of cultivated pecans
