well, Kim and I made plan for retirement when we were young, we hope to retire when I was 55-58 years young. Raised two girls. And try to raise them right, one listen one didn't, one is doing good one isn't, our first change of plans came in by early 40s, cancer, we made it thru, that fine, then came cancer again, to a different body part, it was tuff, had a stroke just before surgery for second cancer, so they had to wait for 6 months to do surgery, made it thru, a couple years later, cancer to another part of my body, still fight this one ,but doing good, well almost 3 years ago my daughter that took the wrong path in life, loss her children government took them away and we have had them since, and looks like we will until they are out of school, so 13 more years, not what I planned to do in retirement, but who could say no to their grandkids, I'm posting this to let everyone know it's good to plan, but be will to change plans because there is a lot in life that is out of our control, it's not easy raising kids in your 60s but we get thru, one day at a time, thanks for listening

Man plans, and God laughs.

Planning is overrated. I used to plan a lot when I was single and if things had gone to plan , I would be back on the canary Islands and still single. Now I am married and in Tennessee ...... yea great plan .

Take every day as it comes. Its a lot less stress that way. Sure, make rough outlines and call them plans but don't expect them to last for any amount of time.

Let's go Brandon

Nothing goes as planned, just wing it, lol! At 45 my wife brought home a 5 day old baby. We ended up fighting in the courts for 4 years and finally were able to adopt. He’ll be 9 in a couple of weeks. My “youngest” of the originals is 24, lol. Definitely wasn’t in the “plans” for life, but you overcome, adapt, and just enjoy the ride. None of us are getting out alive or leaving this life with money, so might as well create memories. They may not be the memories you had in mind, but I promise you to those grand babies they’ll be memories they’ll hold on to long after you’re gone. I’ll be 65 attending my sons high school graduation and will be the proudest Dad there.

Life is never a planned existence, I always wonder at people who say the Lord will give you things that make you tougher, I always reply with, Well how tough does one need to be !!

After living through what I have I just take one day at a time anymore, and relish the fact that I still get another one !

Keep on keeping on, there are some that can't do it without you !!

Good job taking on the grandkids at anytime in your and Kim’s life. I don’t think you would have it any other way. At least you know their needs are being met.

Congratulations Trapper D, you have fought many battles and won. You and your wife are still here because your grandchildren and others need you. God is Great!

I guess the hardest part is, we can't get away for a weekend because we have no one to take the kids, one of kims friends came and watch the kids overnight one time just about kill her, the little guy has night terrors, so we don't get much sleep, he is getting better a little at a time.

Crazy! I guess it’s not your time, you still got a lot to do down here.
My coworker got the big lump in the neck cancer, all good now for 3 years. My cousin not so much. They cut the lump out but now it’s spread into the lungs and other areas.
Hang in there TD!
