If I understand correctly, nephew or some other Williams relatives were going to be making them, but if they are never in stock, that may have fallen thru.

If i still have both I wouldnt have posted what I did.....So no. Williams have the most dependable trigger system of any I have had. Thousands of coons .

Bill Weeks in Florida was the first one to have that design that i knew of, when i contacted him about buying some he wasn't making them anymore and sent me on to Williams cause his traps had same trigger system, rings that fall down when door falls.

Like prying open and oyster with your bare hands.

So does anyone have a photo of a real deal Williams trap? And trigger mechanism it uses?

This trap is 25 yrs old, has held hundreds of coons and spent most of its life outside. Same dip left that he dipped in
State of s.d. had a trap very similar yrs ago and looked just like it with same design but didnt hold up like bills. One little deviation in a design or cheaper part and it screws them up.

Hard for me to make out from the photos, but looks like the trigger mechanism on Williams trap is on the gate end? And can understand the locking rings.

For comparison, this is how the Wickenkamp works. Instead of locking rings, has a sliding locking bar, with rings on the end. Trigger is a small bolt set at 90 degrees to pan......has an indent ground into it that sets on end. Pan goes down, rod is free to rotate to allow gate to drop, bar locks it in place. Roll it upside down and gate drops to release animals. Did that with a bunch of possums this summer. One caught 3 times. Slow learner.

Weak part to me is the little bolt / peg, but maybe it holds up over time. No finish on carbon steel metal. That is about 6 months exposure to weather. Lots of rust showing. But again, a stout trap that works.......and is available.

I have what I believe is some Williams cage traps (passed down to me) and Schroders. They both appear to have the same trigger mechanism. Schroder trap is excellent too. I know Schroder sold his business to his nephews, but I'm not sure if they are making them anymore. Does anyone know?

Why use an inferior trap with inferior results?

So to clarify, you guys have bought rights to make Schroeder cage traps, and will be offering them at some point in the future?

Source for Williams cage traps:

https://longlegacylivetraps.com/

Currently showing "sold out". Would be curious to know if or when they will be back in stock.

Hayday, cagemaker on here is John Schroeder. The original maker of Schroeder cage traps. Sounds like his nephews sold the business to Kevin and John is helping him to get things rolling.

Best cage trap I ever owned . Really regret the two I hit with the brush mower and the one I backed over with the tractor. Still have 6 left that I have had for years. Catch coons in them every year.
