Are bobcats attracted to beaver colonies for the prey opportunities the beaver presents? Or is their main interest the other wildlife attracted to the colonies habitat?

When i trapped In SC and NC beaver flowages where hot spots for cats. Especially the dams. Cats used them for crossing points.

How about river bank beaver? Would their activities be a micro location to consider for river bank running cats?

Probably but you'll have better luck on the high/mid bank trails that run the river.

It’s been my observations in my area that if there is a beaver lodge(s) in a bobcat’s area, the cat(s) will be making frequent visits to the lodges and climbing on top of them. Many timesI’ve tracked them from lodge to lodge to lodge and seen where they sit on top of then lodge. I’ve observed it so many times I have to believe it is either an inherent behavior of a bobcat in beaver country that makes them want to seek out elevation advantages where there isn’t anything other than flat.

They also go there because of the castor/oil sac odors.

I guess from the replies it may be worth my while running the river in the boat to check out active beaver sites along the shore lines.
