any one have any info on the moose population in area 20 c alaska? a freind and i are heading up the kantishna in a couple days. its new area for him ,he is a resident but has only scouted the area a little.

low moose densities. But usually if you find one it's a keeper. you can also go to fish and game website and search 20C moose densities.

You won’t be alone but very little pressure, and very low population compared to other areas. The plus is it’s a prop friendly river. Hunt hard and use your ears. Look for sign, and don’t bother stopping until you find some. Bring lots of gas 😁

Don't expect to see a bull standing on every gravel bar or staring stupidly at you from the river bank.

Find good moose habitat with sign and get out of the boat and HUNT. There are some nice bulls there, but moose in general are few and far between.

Tanana drainage is in flood stage so water will be high. But that will allow you to get farther up. Like Nooksak said, bring lots of gas. There are numerous cabins on the upper river, I suspect there will be a fair amount of competition. The farther up you go the more likely you will see a grizz.

Two years ago, and I don’t hunt there anymore. There are easier places to fill the freezer. 😎
