I feel like someone on here has to have hunted WPAs. I am heading to ND this mid to late October.
Are the boundaries marked well? I always worry about accidently trespassing while traveling out of state (Even when I am following my location on OnX).
Also thinking about trying some of the WPAs for pheasants. Cattails and cover should produce some good numbers.

Write to ND game and fish. And ask for their PLOTS guide. "Private Land Open To Sportsmen" It shows All private lands open to hunting. The book also Identifies WMAs. And I'm betting they have a booklet Identifying WPAs

I think It's must for hunting and trapping.

Around here, WPA's are marked well on the road edges, other edges not so much.

And non-toxic shot for all shotgun hunting, not just migratory birds.

WPAs in SD are typically marked pretty good. I would think in ND with the posted land law if people don’t want you to hunt they should be well posted.

In my travels through parts of ND id say they are marked good enough. Coupled with an app like onx or basemap you'll be fine

Get the PLOT book It will get you On to lots of private property. That may be better hunting with less pressure.

WPA are well marked just remember that they are steel shot only, WMA's you can use lead. Any place that sells outdoor gear will more than likely have Plots guide books. (Plots is closed to non-residents for the first week of pheasant)

Not to get you all excited but I was just out and about for 4 days and there's a crap ton of pheasants running around, should be an outstanding fall.

Pm me if you want more info on the area I was in..

Yes, yes. Any non-toxic would work correct? Believe I am going to run with some bismuth (possibly some tungsten).
Can't believe how many WPA's you guys have up there!

Correct, any federally approved non-toxic shot.

Most WPAs in eastern SD are fenced because they are occasionally grazed by cattle to generate some income for the county so the tax burden on the private landowners is touch less. Its called, "in lieu of taxes". It doesn't replace the full impact of such land being off of the state/county property tax lists but its better than zero.

I had a friend who was with the SD GFP and they often got offered land to turn into State Game Production Areas and the feds as well to do WPAs and the agency people had to weigh a lot of factors before accepting. One major factor was what would the impact be of taking that land off of property tax status?

"And God said, Let us make man in our image and let them have dominion and all the creatures that move along the ground".

So I am guessing like most duck holes, your decoy weights can at least be lead at WPAs correct?
