I'm on the fence with that issue.
swampgas chili and schmidt beer makes for a deadly combo
You have to remember that 1 out of 3 Democratic Voters is just as dumb as the other two.

I do it if a new rifle starts out squirrely but if it is a shooter off the bat then I don't think it does much good. If you hand load and work up loads for it and clean it properly it will be broken in just fine by the time everything comes together.

I've followed the suggestion of my gunsmith buddy , use a Dewey cleaning rod a quality nag and patches , reduced loads by 25% and his witches brew of a solvent ha ha paying close attention to the bore and breach .
Running a tight patch down the barrel after each shot using a very wet patch only once . For the first box of ammo .
Plan on spending a good part of a, day doing the break in . This was for a Krieger barreled rifle he built for me years ago and I've stuck to this process and suggested it to others ever since .
I wish you success with your new rifle what ever you do . Allan

I started doing the same thing a few years back 10 shots clean between each 12 shots clean between each 2 10 shots clean between each 5 I work on loads while doing this I also spend a lot of time cleaning the barrel right out of the box first I think this is the most important part! Does it work? All my long range rifles shoot under 1/2inch at 100 yards I have noticed that it gets easier to clean the barrel as time goes on All rifles are off the shelf guns Just my experience
For a long range shooter or someone that knows how to properly clean a barrel, that’s fine. But for the average hunter (Fudd LOL) who runs the rod in and out from the muzzle until it’s a beautiful mirror finish, not so good. They’re better off just leaving it alone.
