trapper for the 23-24 season hail from?

I'm thinking either a southern state with open water all season long.... or maybe Minnesota if they get a decent spring for trapping flat tails.

(And by top trapper I'm referring to their total beaver harvest number during the open season).

Any southern trapper ought to be able to take at least 300 beaver In about 2 months. The beaver are there but the money Isn't Is there prize money? Just asking for all those southern trappers.

It was a lot easier to rack up big numbers when you had some one to do the skinning, fleshing and stretching!!

I'm pretty certain that the top beaver guy on Trapperman would need to pull in at least 500.....probably more. I'm kind of thinking Minnesota. Would have said a southern state but we all know southerners are too lazy to get it done.

Who knows what it will take. It's a long time until spring. Even longer until may.

According to an old manuscript I once laid eyes on, Jedediah Smith once took 667 beavers in a season.

I've seen that figure too.I wonder how many he actually caught and how many he traded for considering the average mountain mans outfit consisted of 6 traps.

My source for that information was from The Old West series on mountain men by time life books. There were no references to check up on. But it said he trapped them. Who knows?

Boco - on your registered lines, aren't you required to remove a certain number per year? Is there a maximum number you can take or is that up to your judgment? Just wondering how it works.
