I think it's the way people are being raised. In the 80s if you fell on your bike and skinned your knees your Mom would tell you she told you that would happen and go about washing the dishes, telling you the peroxide and bandaids were in the medicine cabinet if you needed them.

In the 1990s the mom would stop washing the dishes, clean your knee up for you, and bandage it up.

By the 2010's the mom would freak out and rush you to the ER.

Couple that with the fact that parents are shielding kids in every way possible from anything that might inflict even the smallest amount of discomfort on them, and you end up with entire generations that have no idea how to cope with even the smallest problems that arise.

I think it's only going to get worse.

That said, I do believe that in rare cases, chemical imbalances are to blame but I bet a person would be surprised how few of the people diagnosed with anxiety that that is true for.

Fear of failure or criticism make it hard for some people to start a project. It may appear to others as well as to them that they are lazy, but the criticism and rejection is often what they fear most.

Many people is sales have this problem. Happens in marriages also when one spouse is always nagging and must always be right.

If something is bothering you punch it in the face.

definitely much happier when I don't watch the tv

it isn't just the bad stuff , but the outright lies I heard over and over , the spin , the how you should feel or react to it being crammed in

for Pete's sake can we stop pretending 2 criminals engaged in criminals activity are joe every day citizen and how tragic it is they shot each other.
like it was 2 working guys on a Friday evening walking out of the bank after cashing their paychecks and they decided to just have a fight and shoot each other in the parking lot.

no it two criminals and one of them wanting to keep the drugs and the money plane and simple.

Stay off social media. There’s some topics on here I refuse to click on. If you fill your every day with negativity then that’s what you’re thinking about and that’s what you’ll be.

Think when you were younger, did horror movies have you sleeping with the lights on? Why? Because that was on your mind when your brain should be shutting down to rest. It’s now the same when you’re an adult. Bad news on TV/social media will have you thinking about it. Your brain can only take so much before it needs a break. The issue is that some people never take that break.

We as trappers/outdoorsman/women have that “woods time” that clears our heads and gives us a break from the negativity/stress. Not saying seeing where a coyote did a dance on your set yet never hit the pan doesn’t cause a little stress, but nothing like the doom and gloom from TV/social media.

My life changed dropping most of social media and quit watching the news. I’ll click on Fox News App once a day and read the interesting stuff and if I have an issue I want to more about I’ll research it, but I don’t stress over it. Heck there’s some folks on here I can almost see their blood vessels in their heads and neck bulging from some topics I used to read. If you can’t physically change it yourself, don’t stress over it. I really think some folks post just to try and get folks as upset as they are. If they ain’t happy, they don’t want anyone happy.

This makes a lot of sense.

4 siblings, 3 are doing very well, 1 can’t seem to get it together and blames fear of the unknowns. I just can’t wrap my head around that.

It's much deeper rooted than what people think. Everyone deals with anxiety on a surface level. When it affects people from getting on with their life it's something more substantial. Chemicals, heavy metals, parasites, viruses, candida, molds, and bacteria's that overtake the body when it's weak can have a great impact on the brain and its chemistry. Bacteria, viruses, or parasites in the gut can have a great impact your body not being able to absorb the proper nutrients, which in turn robs the brain of being able to cope properly.

Coming from experience, never judge what another person is dealing with. Mental health is a weird beast.

I believe in some people it's hereditary. My wife has anxiety & depression problems and take meds and sees 2 different doctors for it. Her grandfather had mental illness and was committed for it by her grandma back when they did such things. Her dad had her mother undergo electric shock treatments when they did those back in the day. Thank God they did away with those. Anyone that thinks that this crap isn't real or they bring it on by watching tv doesn't have a clue.

it is very real and they can't control it
it can very much be hereditary

I guess what I was saying is
it is additionally triggered by outside stimuli also , and TV and everything doom and gloom and marketing and fear everything this and that.

those stimuli can be powerful enough that even people with no real family history or previous issues can develop some from that excess of negative stimuli and for them shutting off the TV can be huge.

really shutting off that negative stimuli can help for lots of people

that same person can be very confident in the things they do well and then toss a bad stimuli on and what they are masters of , they can't hardly manage to do.

for some it is over stimulation , they need down time, no people and if they never get it it triggers the anxiety and depression

food how you eat , what you eat can be a stimuli for depression and anxiety also

A lot of the problems people today have, is social media addiction. Especially younger folks.

Depression is like cancer. If you haven't had it, you can't imagine what it's like.

Right now I’m having amnesia and déjà vu at the same time. I think I’ve forgotten this before.

As someone with actual anxiety and clinical depression, if you've never experienced it first had you just plain will not understand.
Some people are just plain wired differently.i hear people say all the time " just be happy" " just don't be nervous" like yeah .... I would I I could but. And most really don't like to talk about it or try to get help because when they do their met with a bunch of " just be happy just man up yadda yadda"
It's why alot of vets will never talk to their family or non military people about their mental problems. People who have legitimately never had to problems themselves will not understand 9/10 times

There is so much negativity in the world today Marital problems ,money problems ,drugs and alcohol problems ,real or made up medical conditions that are sometimes made up so they have a name for what does not really ail people .Greed and jealousy are the makers of unhappiness Plus with al the social media the people are on the bandwagon promoting the evil of hia world The worst thing you can do is spend your time with negative peopleThey will always bring others down with them It is much harder to pick negative people up them to male positive people sad and in distress Spend as much time as possible with good peop[e It will make each day a little easier

So we should stop saying stuff like, “you’re 40 years old, get a job”, “quit being a bum”?
