Gulo bobcat is right in there ! I've chewed on plenty of bobcats. I've eaten (or tried to eat) some pretty raunchy old toms that weren't what I'd call delectable table fare. Lynx, I've never had a bad one. Jack

When I hunted elk in CO we would see a lot of grouse in coveys along the road. I asked one of the ranchers what kind of grouse they were? He said they were sage grouse, no good to eat. Is that true?

Wife made some great grouse adobo. And no lucky shot to chew on! Great shots and an even better looking longbow. Is that a J T Traditions or Toelke?

I would choose ruffed grouse as the best eating wild game. Pheasant a close second.

I would choose ruffed grouse as the best eating wild game. Pheasant a close second. I certainly agree, ruffed grouse have gotta be close to the top. Difficult, though, to pick. Pheasant is mighty delicious, as are doves, quail, chukars, and young blue grouse. I would rank ptarmigan, winter spruce grouse. sage hens, and yard-bird down a ways on the list. Actually, my favorite is whatever happens to be on the plate for dinner. If you're ranking all wild game meat, not just upland birds, I'd have to go with lynx meat or Dall Sheep as the best, followed closely by Sitka blacktail deer and young Russian boar. Jack
