Guys I'm wondering about the laws in your great state....foothold trap reg.s...and snare laws. Can you give some insight on the requirements for an out of state fur trapper?
Thanks...much appreciated

I looked at the state website and as far as I can tell you need to pick up a copy of your license in Cheyenne. You can request it mailed bit if it's lost you have to pay another fee same as the first for a reprint. But it's been a few years since I looked. Also only animals allowed in your state for WY residents to trap are the ones you can trap, so in my case I can't trap badger or marten.

Life sure is tough when you don't learn from the mistakes of others.

Yep Im here. I can send you our current regs but it can all be found on the web as other guys have stated. We currently have a 72 hour check on footholds and on the snares its once within the week. So we can actually go every13 days. If fur trapping, I and most trappers run them along with the traps. If you only target predators, no license purchase is required but the furbearers, you need a non res license.

Most furbearer seasons open Oct. 1st excluding bobcat. They typically open Nov. 15th. I can say that we have very low numbers of coyotes and cats. The government has really ramped up the predator control programs and we have had a bad rabbit crash for several years now. Parvo was through here 4 years back also. I cant speak for all the state but I know Im not alone with these observations. Im pretty sure that as a trapper, It will be weinny water soup for supper for some time to come!

Jerry non resident wyoming license was lost in the mail once from Wyoming one year.

It cost him 7.00 for a reprint.

I mailed his application and our state regs out Thursday for his nonresident wyoming license.

You really should do it by Mail.
Theres one guy who issues them and he's In the Cheyenne office.( I know this for a fact after years of sending for them)

If you show up to get a license and he isn't there you're screwed.

That happened to jerry once years ago.

Also, you have to have a copy of your state reg when applying.

The have to have a copy of it before they will issue your license to see what, if any, restrictions you may have on your license.

Each non resident trapping license in wyoming can potentially have different restrictions depending on the applicants home states trapping regulations.

No. You have a paper copy.

The guy told Jerry it took them too much time and that they put the regs with the application.

You app also has to be notarized.

I haven't bought one this year, but unless things have changed in the last year, you have to send a copy of the regs from your state. Then sign and have notarized a form stating that your home state allows Wyoming residents to trap. It is reciprocal for each individual furbearer. For example, Nevada does not allow nonresidents to trap bobcat or grey fox (at least last time I checked) but they do allow nonresidents to trap everything else. Therefore if you are a Nevada resident you can buy a license and trap everything in Wyoming except bobcat and grey fox. If your state does not have an animal, like Georgia doesn't have marten, then you are generally allowed to trap it in Wyoming. I'm not sure how it works if your state has a population of a furbearer but doesn't allow either residents or nonresidents to trap it.
