The joys of trapping in Summer cement! That junk is soft and slick when wet and you sometimes wonder if it’ll hold, when it dries it’s almost chisel time. I’ve learned my properties over the years and know just how far I need to drive an anchor. Some places with normal dirt I can go 14” or so. Other spots 6-8” will hold anything we got down here, and you’ll still soak a shirt getting it out!! I can just about go by feel when driving the anchor in, lol. Figured I better get them out today while the ground is still wet from this week's rain. Let it dry and I'd need an air hammer to chip them out.

Your actual point notwithstanding..... thread title brings up great memories. I'm going to go see if I can find my old Roy D Mercer CD!
Pete That was the idea. I miss Roy talking to the manager.

Too old and too bad of hands and wrists for that. Did for years...part of my hand problems. Just cut the dang cable and go... I've just never got used to the idea of leaving stuff behind on others land. I've had to leave a few till thaw but I've always cleaned them up. I had two break the chain trying to pull them but I still came back and dug them up.
When you earnestly believe you can compensate for a lack of skill by doubling your efforts, there's no end to what you can't do.
