The eye is about 15 miles southeast of me now with 70 MPH winds . Lost power about 30 min. ago . This one is the worst one through here in my 58 years . It will still be hammering us till on after dark .

I'm glad you dodged the bullet but unless your place is about 20 ft above the nearest body of water and has no trees on it, I'd have gone to visit Clay. The trees made it a touch scary. I fared well...neighbors not so much. A logging crew is supposed to be here tomorrow to get big poplar tree off neighbor's home. He told he would remove any trees while here. Supposed to bring his cut-down machine amd take down four 80- 90 ft pines in my yard. Wont have to worry about those again.

Tarp the roof and call the insurance adjuster. Prob. be awhile before you get that issue fixed. The power company's do not clean around their lines and that can cause major issues when there is an event. We see it in the west due to fires all the time. I am lucky we have a good power company but its a co-op. Houses in the south are not built to withstand much as far as I know. The neighbors all gather in an event like this and chip in the get things back up and running. Hopefully you have some good ones. Generator is a pretty good investment. Yeah...good neighbors, but several of them fled....where to I don't know. Some haven't returned yet. I took my tractor and cleared most of the street after the eye passed....at least one way..other way is blocked with large oaks and powerlines. Generator is running.

Figured you would make it fine. Outdoor people are way more prepared and can handle issues better than city folks. If there was a major disaster and everyone was cut off from any help which is pretty rare anymore those types would not make it. One good thing is the beavers have less trees to chew on. Hang in there. We are in clean up mode around here after the wind event last night. Thanks SP! Wife and I cooked up some pancakes and bacon outside on the Blackstone griddle tonight. I told her we was roughing it....lol

What county are you in Swamp? I don’t know why I thought you were on the coastal area, but your blue pin showed you like right down below Valdosta area. Echols County 17 miles due east of Valdosta

Can't speak to south Georgia but up here Georgia power does a good job keeping stuff cut back off the lines. I know because it seems like every other year I got a crew knocking on my door wanting to butcher up my pecan tree and asking if I can move my bees. They ain't cut it yet, lol.
Still doesn't stop hurricane damage but it definitely speeds up putting it all back together. My daughters boyfriend is an engineer with Alabama Power, he left Tuesday morning headed to S. Georgia with a crew pre-positioned to respond to storm damage.

Nah, I’m sure he was busy as heck. But like someone said, pace yourself. I don’t care who you are, if it hit them like it hit us in 2018, you ain’t getting it done in a day or two. Was just hoping he’d check in and give us an update. Went through an F5 in 98. Saw lots of clean up injuries. Dad liked to have worked himself to death.

Just came in and got a cool, but flashlight illuminated shower. Our water system is up and running...what a blessing that is. Been cleaning up all day. Went and purchased another generator this morning. Gotta save the produce (maters and corn) we put up and those dang beaver pelts. The tree that damaged my truck broke my line feed to my house weatherhead. Linesman wouldn't reconnect feed until inspection...then Georgia Power gotta look at it...b4 re-connect. Rest of neighborhood's power came on a few min ago. They got all nearby lines up this afternoon...then I cleared rest of street of oak trees with the New Holland. So, Wife and I still get to listen to the generators running. Have certified electrician coming in the morning. Then if I can get a GP tech here with all that's going on.....maybe we'll get our power on soon.
