Most houses are equipped with lektrik but seldom gas.
Not supposed to can with a glass top but you do what you gotta do.
Gas is more reliable of course in case of power outage.
What do you use?

I've used both. Had a glass top electric back in Nebraska, worked fine, other than being slow to heat. Never had a problem with the canner. Have gas now, much better for everything!

Some people say you can not use cast iron on a glass top. Our glass top has never had any other type of fry pan on it.

natural gas here. I don't like electric stoves, I had it for too many years in the past.

LP gas.

I've used lots of electric stoves including high end glass tops and, compared to gas, they all suck.

The heat from a gas range can be regulated better and faster than any electric range.

Watch any cooking show, nearly all use gas. Most pro chefs prefer gas as well.

Eh...wot?

Propane here. I’ve canned on electric before. I can’t imagine how it could be bad to can on electric. Boiling water is boiling water, doesn’t matter where the heat came from

I think maybe some folks think the weight of a canner full of water is a little bit dangerous...

I have a pressure canner made by Presto that should not be used on an open flame and I use it on our glass top range and have for about 7 years. I also have one that is made by granite ware and I use my turkey fryer unit for that. I have used that one for decades. I can use my one on the electric stove as a water canner as well and yes that takes more water, but has not been an issue to date.

Natural gas, can't stand an electric stove. Most people out here have either natural gas or propane

We have an electric, glass top range. We use cast iron on it most days. We have canned thousands of quarts of produce on it in steam baths and pressure cookers.

Besides when camping, I've only cooked on gas a few times. Diane says she prefers cooking on gas. She had a gas range when we got together. This house came with the electric glass top and we still use it.
