I know this may be a long shot but thought I'd ask.
I'm looking to book a 2024 dyi moose or bou hunt. Does anyone have recommendations for a transporter in a successful area to drop us off. I've been on a couple hunts already but seems all my plans have been unsuccessful in getting something lined up.
Anything to help me in my search would help.
Thanks

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.

Arrowhead Outfitters (907) 746-7744 has a good reputation. They are a transporter, they are operating off the Haul rd. Caribou are great numbers right now 30K+. They have really good succuss right now on caribou. You would have to check with them on moose. Swift Fork transporters are an excellent people for drop off moose hunts 907-378-0427. They have a lot of repeat hunters, so don't be surprised if you can't book a hunt right away.

I agree re endorsement of Swift Fork Air. BUT.... I would be very surprised if they have any openings in next 2 or 3 years. Perhaps longer.

Pretty much have to choose one. Gonna be hard to find a place that has a good bou and moose population and doesn't have a lot of other hunters.
Best moose is unit 18. Fly out of Bethel. Gonna be spendy!

You could easily do a combo moose and caribou hunt in one of the northern subunits of GMU25. Around the first half of September. Later in September would be even better, like the last two weeks of moose season. It can become a weather issue in getting flown back out as it can get pretty wintery, with frozen lakes and snow. Some transporters will baulk a little. One well known pilot in that area told me he doesn't like booking moose hunters at the end since the moose hunters are too successful at the end, then they all want flown out at the same time; along with a pile of moose meat.

The porcupine caribou herd is generally in the area at that time also.

One of your main considerations might be the cost of air transport. It is a long place from anywhere (Fort Yukon or Fairbanks). It is a very expensive area to get to, but worth it imo, if you can afford it.

I've been up there moose hunting twice now south east of Anchorage on the lower botley creek. Was successful the first time, but second trip was not so good, only saw one small moose and looked like lots of human activity. Along with the wolves I think that area has dwindled, that's why I'm looking for a new spot. Probably be my last trip up north so want to make it a good one. Not wanting to do both at one time, either one would be good.
The problem I'm having is everyone is booked out several yrs and I don't know if I can stay in shape that long, lol. I'll keep Making phone call. If it don't work I guess I'll stay in the lower 48 and keep chasing whitetails.
