A Glenwood #6 Baseheater. Many consider this to be the Holy Grail of coalstoves. This was made around the turn of the last century. With housewives tired of coal dust and the advent of oil-fired boilers and furnaces, it's a wonder any survived. A lot of them got tossed at the dump or the rockpile on the back forty.

This pic is from the 1850s farmhouse it came from. The elderly man who sold it to me remembers his mother burning it when he was a child. This thing is complete and in fantastic shape. It's going in my cabin.

Break out the silver polish and shine that baby up and it's going to look great in the cabin.

It'll burn both but coal is where it shines.

Sold firewood to an older lady that heated her house with that stove. 5 full cords of 12" firewood.

Very nice I do not need or have a use for a coal stove .But I sure woild like to own that one. The craftmanship that show in the detailed design makes is a work or art .Thanks for posting.

Have to agree with everyone that is one heck of a nice find, not sure I'd take metal polish to it though the aged patina adds to the uniqueness and value.
Oh the stories it could tell

Thanks for the compliments and I'm glad you guys like it. The man who sold it to me had it listed on FB Marketplace and he said he received calls from across the country inquiring about it. It's that desirable a stove to people interested in such things.

He had done his own research and knew the value of the stove but he sold it to me for a fraction of what it's worth. I have no idea why. I'm a happy guy.
