You will get 100 different answers to this. Each person has their own preference. In our area of Wisconsin, we don't have predators like out West or Texas. So I try to mix up scents but have 3-4 favorites I have had success with. Still can't help but try something new once in a while. It depends on the time of year also for me. More mild calls earlier and louder as it gets colder and freezes. To me, one just needs to find one's own favorites. I currently like Caven's, No BS, Dobbins, and a couple from Trapper Arts - Northland and Arts My two scents, good luck.

Fox or coyote pee.

If I use lure at my coyote sets its beaver caster or mink gland.

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

Early season I use fresh muskrat in my dirt hole sets and a squirt of bobcat urine on the backing. Late season I’ll use red fox gland lure and a variety of others.

As Bear Tracker said, use a few different scents/baits/lure. Keep a notebook with notes referring to what bait or lure is at what set. Set on the downwind side. LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION. You will hear this again. Pick an area where several two tracks/farm lanes/trails intersect.

I like gusto later in the season. It is very potent. But you need more than one lure. Food lure, curiosity lure, gland lure, all have their place, and you’ll need more than one kind of each so you can change it up cause canines, like people, have different personalities and while one coyote might go nuts over a certain lure, the next one might walk right on by and pay it no attention.

I use several, but many that I’m running out of now I can no longer find.

Big Joe nailed it LOCATION,must have the animals and bed your trap tight. As for lure's try a half dozen and see what works best in your area, some lure's work better in different area's than others. A few I've had good luck with: Fox Hollow GH2,Bounty Hunter,Wieser Bad Company,Tainted Love,Carmen Pro Choice,Corr Crow Creek,C-50 just to name a few, good luck this fall.If your looking for Magic in a bottle, you'll never find it.
