I think that's a parasol mushroom - very toxic. We have lots of those around here.

Looks too white to be a parasol, which are not toxic, choice edible actually. The false parasol is toxic, could be one of those. You can distinguish the two by doing a spore print.

I hate to see some of the people throwing out answers. Mushroom id can be life or death. I am no expert, and i didn't even stay at a holiday inn express. But that mushroom has nothing in common with a chanterelle. I would suggest asking the question in the wildcrafting forum and hope that Tatiana chimes in. She seems to really know her mushrooms.

Looks like a shaggy parasol. They are edible but there are several toxic lookalikes so leave the final identification to experts!!!

****Upon further research this mushroom looks more like a False Parasol otherwise know as the vomiter mushroom as it is one of the most common mushrooms eaten that makes you sick. May not kill you but you may wish you were dead! Avoid eating it.****

This thread is one of the reasons I don't eat wild mushrooms laugh

I did have a friend bring me a big chunk of lion's mane that I ate. But not before getting some more opinions of what it was from people who knew wink

Exactly- if everyone said Portabella… still not eating it. It’s something aspirational but I don’t know enough to ID one on my own.
