Howdy,

Anyone order from O'gorman lately? I was just wondering what his prices are on powder river and 4oz lures. My catalog is a couple years old and just seeing what the rate is. Thanks!

Are they taking orders?

4oz lures were $25 and I believe a gallon of powder river was just under $100

Yes on the catalog. They have noticeably reduced the variety of things they’re selling, but it’s still a nice catalog imo

Not sure if this is true or not but the word was he was selling or has sold his lure business. I've stopped at his place twice now this past year and he's been at meetings both times. At least that's what Nancy
his secretary told me. No shortage of 5 gallon pails sitting around the place lol. His catalog hasn't changed much. I won one for a door prize at the Wyoming trappers convention in Powell a year ago. Didn't seem much different than the last one I bought several years ago. Almost all the same pictures and articles. He is proof that you don't need to use the internet to get it done.

Last I heard when he's out of product he's shutting the doors and burning the formulations. Think he's been selling off his inventory of ingredients.

Wouldn’t surprise me, sounds about right.

Read that in an article he wrote. He said no one would pay what the business is worth. I heard through the grapevine he was asking 7 figures.

Not to quibble with Big O, but a business is only "worth" what someone will pay for it.

That's true Lazarus.

Craig told me a few years ago that he and Dana didn't want to sell because it was ''their thing''. Too bad if it goes that way. Maybe they could at least sell parts to others so they can have a little extra?

Just passin through

A Standard used in selling a retail business is 1.5 X's the annual gross sales averaged over the last 3 years. You get the name and all the book/paperwork, formulas (not covered under patent rights) mechanics, tools etc., etc.. Any inventory is recorded separate and valued at the current wholesale cost. So if you sold $1.00 worth of goods averaged over the last 3 years, your sale price is $1.50 plus any inventory. Current trend is such this might be tough to find a buyer in the trapping trade as sales have been down and inventory is volatile. If you pay more, your banker might not be as willing of a partner.... My Take.......................... the mike
