Has anyone tried to mix maple syrup or any other syrup with Vaseline to make it a bit more waterproof and last a little longer? We are going through a ton of it with all the rain we are getting. Just wondering thanks.

Sounds like a waste of good maple syrup! There are a few fellas on this forum that sell excellent summer time coon control baits that take the summer heat and rains. If you are on a tight budget, I think mixing youre syrup with the fruit paste base that they also offer for sale.

Melt down the Vaseline and then add the maple and see what happens. You have both a smell and taste attraction with just the syrup. So depending on what you are using the maple syrup for attraction-wise, meaning smell or taste attraction, you may see a negative using the Vaseline if your main attraction is the taste. at which there would be better bases to use.

I have blended using heat, Lard and syrup. Had better results with molasses blended with bacon grease/Lard. The Lard set it up a bit firmer. Small batches are easy.
