Selling a nice looking cow guaranteed to be bred and with a likely calving date brings way more money than weighing one up.

Bryce and left lane gave you some good answers. It’s hard to beat. She looks like she’s six weeks off to me. Have her tested and you’ll see.

Condition or body fat or size are not good indicators or being pregnant or not. You want cows, dairy or beef to be carrying some condition (not overly fat) when pregnant so they can use body fat to convert to energy to make milk for the calf of the bucket. Also older cows that have calved several times before many times show very late in their term, nothing like a 1st calf heifer beef or dairy that show for a couple months many times.
If a 500 lbs. weaned calf is worth 750-$1000 in todays market, if pregnant how much does it cost to feed a cow for 250-300 days? If not pregnant her $1000 over the scale is cash in hand and a lot less forage to be fed in a year when there will be shortages, at least in our area.
If you have made up your mind to sell soon then that is your choice. Most experienced buyers can tell if cull cows are far along in pregnancy after buying thousands of head. They know that a cow about 6-7 months in calf will dress at a lower percentage then an open cow and pay less per lbs. accordingly.

Scott at the sale, the vet who works it usually works for a discount fee in agreement with the management there. You don't have to pay his office fee or a serv call so it might be alot more economical than you think.

A lot of those ol boys check so many that they become super accurate predicting a future date for calving

You must have more leinient regs than we do here. If you take a head of cattle to the sale barn and it mingles with others it does not go back home, it gets sold.

Baxter Black has a poem about culling a cow. I believe it’s called “ One more year “. Check it out

These buyers, buy thousands of cows each year. They can look at an animal and tell how much waste there will be. At 8 months PG with fetus, water, uterine lining etc. that is a 100 lbs. or more of additional waste.

I sure can’t tell how much the way without looking at them up close. I sure miss that one up. It’s been 13 years since I bought and sold any cattle. I just don’t know the market now.

Are used to spend four months out of the year in the Midwest Buying cattle I did for a little over 10 years. They were always Dairy cattle. My closest friends live in Wisconsin. I spent many months with them each year. Their son is like my brother would be if I had one.
Their son my friend is the sharpest fellow knowing about cattle I have ever met or seen in my life. he can go on any road any dirt road in Wisconsin without looking at a map no exactly where he’s at. He can quote you Word for Word exactly what you said two years before.
330 your cattle really look good ones you’ve shown us. I bet you’re proud of that especially being able to work with your grandkids around the cattle .

Always a good thing when one can sell a renewable resource during the high market times and solve some short term needs. Raising breeding stock is always a challenge and an investment of resources and time.
I had a small beef herd for 5 years (four cows) and we needed to buy all the feed except for 1 acres of grass pasture. I sold them and bought some ewes. Less work, and I lose less money and mutton and lamb taste good too.
