Recently I found out that my place of employment, Lowes, will pay 100% of my college costs if I go back to college. The catch is that there are only certain degrees that they'll pay everything for. I looked through the list and most of them were not of interest to me... mostly all business management and computer degrees. BUT, one did catch my eye.

Those of you that read the posts on here about finances and the stock market have probably seen me on there asking questions of White17, Steven49er and others. I know little about finances and markets but find the topic intriguing. One of the degrees that Lowes offers a full ride for is a Bachelor's of Finance. So I bit the bullet and signed up. I felt I would be a fool not to accept completely free schooling... they even pay for required books and course materials.

I already have an associate's degree, and I'm still waiting to see how many of my credits will transfer but I think many will. So I hope to have the degree completed in 2 or 2.5 years... depending on how time consuming the courses are, since I will also be working full time. The schooling is 100% online, which is very convenient for me. The college I will be attending is the University of Maryland.

So I'm pretty excited about it and just wanted to share with y'all. Hopefully I don't come out of my time in college as a raving lunatic liberal, hahaha.

Good for you, with a degree all of your credits should transfer, is there any requirements as far as do you have to work for lowes so many years after you complete your degree?

good on you. lowes will put you in an office when you finish, you will need to abdicate your tomato goddess crown.

No. Just have to stay employed with Lowes while you're getting your degree. And amazingly, it doesn't even need to be full time. Part time and they'll still pay everything. The good thing about that is that once I get into the higher level, difficult courses, if it gets to be too much I can drop down to part time at work and still get my degree.

I recently decided to go back to school I was commercial fishing and decided to do a machinist program at my local college it was covered by a grant so I figured the same as you why not do it if it's free. I'm extremely happy with the choice i think you will be to.

With your life experiences you will absorb and understand more than most of the people in your classes since you can relate them to real life. Good luck.

I have a bs in biology thru Sunday, it didn't do me any good

whatsoever in the career I chose, but dang it was a blast !

Didn't have online classes then and my degree took over 10 years part time.

Angela, you will have fun, I know I did !

Maryland? Welcome to the BIG10.

I got myself a seniors' GPS.
Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination,
it tells me why I wanted to go there.
