Needed some elbow room with so many hobbies going on I can’t fit my truck in the 30X50 building between trapping gear, trucks and parts, building supplies to rebuild the fur shed, tools/hoists, skinning machine, tumbler, chicken items and other country living necessities. Finished the deck today next the retaining wall then the fur shed before winter hits. It would be tough to work on the fur shed because I have little room to move stuff to so I could work in there.

Picked up this 40 foot “high cube” shipping container 1X used on a local auction today they are not cheap here the Sioux Fall dealer wanted $14,000 for the same sized container with doors at both ends. Then $4.50 a mile 130 miles one way trucking costs.

This container has 1 end door and 4 front side doors. I thought it would be more practical then the one door ones and burying my junk in a dark hole I would hate to go into. Now toget it moved here and set up.

Will need to run some lights and figure out some ventilation system to avoid condensation build up if it becomes an issue.

You can’t build a shed for that… good solution

Wife wanted a 2 car garage built during the pandemic $60,000 quote with extra storage on each side so say 3 car taxable . A 1 car prebuilt garage is about $10,000 after it’s set up and requires normal maintenance then to work in it heating/insulation that’s not needed my fur shed is heated but crowded now. Building a bigger shed would delay everything so no help to me and taxable.

Storage containers are not taxable here yet very little maintenance once it’s ventilated no lights needed with all of the doors but I’ll run string lights if needed no foundation and cement costs involved and it will be setup in a few days ready to go.

12 or 24 volt tractor lights. A couple old batteries. And dig some 2x4 cement blocks in and lift it a foot of ground.

My county told me I can't have a shipping container for storage when I was there for a permit to put electric in a field. They said it was designed as a shipping container. I have 2 thoughs. I someone with money didn't like the neibors container. 2 they don't know how to or can't tax then like they do a storage building so prohibit them.

Funny thing is all the places like Sam's and Walmart have lines of them behind their buildings they keep products in storage. There are several of them around the county also. So it's OK if you don't ask or no one complains.

Now the catch is they can't tell you you can't store yout shipping container on your property you just can't use it for storage.

One trip 20' are on line listed under 3k here 40" under 5k. I do really like your side doors. Is there a specific name for that style I can use to search for to speed up the search. That thing would be perfect to keep thing separated. Bee equipment, trapping, hunting gear, ect..

I like it, especially the side doors.

Cheaper down South it looks like for the same container is under $9,000 from the auctions I looked at messing around the auction site.

Look up 40’ high cube (9 foot high) 5 door I’ll look for a better name Check Auction Time auctions also

Would blown in insulation solve the condensation problem? Just a thought as it works in sail boat......jk

Not sure yet on the vent/insulation issues I need to get it home to look it over. This is my first time dealing with a container like this one no need to insulate it yet I have a 12X40 heated shed to hide in from the wife in when needed it has a overhead door at one end. Thinking solar fans maybe those steel building spinners are kind of gaudy my steel building has one that looks fine not sure that would work as well on this.

Need to go see how to pay for it and make arrangements to move it home after I clear a spot for it. It’s going just across from the fur shed to save time and effort when I’m looking for something and it’s close to power when needed. The idea is to move the bulky stuff that clutters my big building and fur shed into this container like table saws spare freezers car parts trapping supplies that are taking up space I can use. With the need to rebuild the fur shed from the fire it needs to be emptied out to pull the walls and rewire/insulate the whole thing I had no place to put anything if I cleaned it out with a place for the stuff it would just clutter what little space I had remaining.
