Never trapped snappers before. Used to help an old man in the neighborhood on his turtle line when I was a lad. Does the time of year/season matter to their eating quality? Is it best to take them at a certain time for sustainability?

Check your fish and game regulations. Nebraska has a season for snappers and bullfrogs. There are 'methods of take' restrictions as well.

Snappres are a smelly mess to clean, but excellent table fare. smile

Snappers or turtles in general have become the new wolves in some states. Sad

Snappers are excellent eating. Here we have a season. Check your rule book. Don't go after them as much anymore but used to put up quite a few. Some great turtle trapping threads have been on here. I bet there a few in the archives

I've cleaned quite a few over the years and enjoy the meat. Just wondering if the time of year caught affects their taste?

I just cleaned 3 this week. My question is what to do with the shells? Any value or market?
