If you catch your limit of fish for the day but release them into your pond does that count for in your possession? I say no but a good friend of mine says it does confused What's your thoughts?

Here in KS you can't release fish above or below a dam from where they were caught. Since your pond likely has a dam, unless water flows from where you caught them, no dam between the location of the catch and your dam, it would be illegal here. That reg is the result of zebra mussel concerns. MO may have a similar regulation.

Daily limit no different than if you put them in your freezer.

This may or may not be of much help. Check Culling at this URL> https://mdc.mo.gov/fishing/regulations

I'm not in Missouri....lol. Laws vary by state.

I'm assuming you will catch them in public water then transport them to private water? If so, here in Georgia that means you took possession of fish caught from public water and you are therefore bound by state law pertaining to legal limits.

That KS law is targeted for bait fish. Guys catching bullheads or sunfish for example to be used for flathead bait. Caught in a creek below the reservoir dam they can't be used in the reservoir or vice versa. Bait store guys love it. There are rules about bait fish sold in bait stores sources. It applies to any fish though.

You took possession of them. Fishing for that species is done for the day.
Would you take two limits with you and try to explain to a game warden that you were releasing one limit in a pond?
No different than taking two trips in the same day with two limits. Imo

If you are fishing and then quit to take them home and put them in your private pond then who cares!!! Creel or bucket will be empty. Now it is between you and the Lord!!!

God please keep they 19 fallen UBB miners out of trouble up there.

If youre catching from public waters, I say yes thats a limit. Are you going to let the general public come and fish your pond? Your state will have laws about transporting from public to private waters.

Imo, from one private pond to another then no. Again, what are your state's laws

You may have found a loophole, but, I believe the" intent of the law" is as Rat_Pack describes.

When using minnows or chubs for bait in NE you have to be ready to show sales receipt from a bait shop.

In MN you need to apply for a Live Fish Transportation Permit to relocate live fish.
Not sure how it works as far as your daily limit.

Must be nice to eat ice cream as fast as you want and not have to worry about brain freeze.
