I run a small business and my CC processor charges me 3.4% for any CC transactions. So if I don't charge the customer that 3.4% it comes out of my end of the payment and I lose money and that would be several thousand per year.

yup
CC companies make their money some of it by charging the retailer 3% so many retailers have turned that to the customer.
definitely getting more common
lots of gas stations has a cash price and a credit price
lots of small retailers are now cash or 3% up charge
but when you get to the bigger cities they are cashless in many places , you can only use a card so there is nothing for them to get held up for
been to a few coffee places you pay an extra dollar for CC or debt card no matter the bill
this is why some places have a minimum purchase to use a CC but some CC terminal contracts won't let them set a minimum so then they change to a dollar fee or 3%
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Always ask the OWNER how much if I pay cash? Cash is king! a few places I go the price is the price if cash , if not cash you pay 5% the WI sales tax is 5% he has it built in to the price to cover the CC machine if cash you can just pay the price

We have a restaurant that charges two different prices when it's cash or CC.
Must be nice to eat ice cream as fast as you want and not have to worry about brain freeze.
