Got our notice for summer discount. $1.99 but have to buy at least 300 gallon.

I have not filled a tank since I got the outdoor wood burner. I have a 500gal tank dad had a 500 and 1000 gal tank connected. Owning your tank you get better prices. I may need to fill with sumer prices if I do get a lp auto back up generator.

This from. https://www.eia.gov/dnav/pet/pet_pri_wfr_dcus_SIA_w.htmWeekly Heating Oil and Propane Prices (October - March) (Dollars per Gallon Excluding Taxes) Area: Period: Weekly Download Series History Download Series History Definitions, Sources & Notes Definitions, Sources & Notes Show Data By: Data Series Area GraphClear 02/20/23 02/27/23 03/06/23 03/13/23 03/20/23 03/27/23 View History Residential Heating Oil 3.497 3.526 3.585 3.518 3.454 3.445 1990-2023 Wholesale Heating Oil 2.791 2.879 3.009 2.889 2.714 2.781 2013-2023 Residential Propane 1.936 1.936 1.934 1.929 1.923 1.929 1990-2023 Wholesale Propane 0.902 0.908 0.979 0.873 0.818 0.842 2013-2023 This is not current summer prices but is prices for last October - March. So if I am reading this correctly on 3/27/23 the wholesale price was 0.842 average and the retail price was $1.929 for propane. So looks to me the propane companies were making over $1.00 per gallon. That fact should make everyone feel good(not). The heating oil companies must have more competition as they were working on a lot less margin.

As far as a cheaper price owning your own tank the two companies I asked are the cheapest two. We have several companies where I live and there are two I have found to be the best as far as price and customer service. If you do not own your tank you are getting the shaft. I would advise everyone to purchase their own tank. I can give you a list of the crap these companies pull on their customers that have rental tanks.

I use propane for cooking and the clothes dryer. I heat mostly with wood and only use the propane furnace as a backup. I go through around 200 gallons a year.
