Filled up a couple weeks ago it was $1.59 a gallon. Switched to a new company this year. Friendlier and better customer service. They even had a a free all you can eat hamburger lunch with pop and chips for customer appreciation day. Good quality lunch too. Sometimes it the small things that matter.
Used to be the propane price was fixed all summer. Now you cannot get a commitment from anyone. You have to buy it what you think the best price will be. It fluctuates upward and downward all summer. What's your price?

I contracted 360 gallons at $1.45 last month. That'll get me through the winter and then some.

You should just cook it over a fire and save your self some money.

Got our notice for summer discount. $1.99 but have to buy at least 300 gallon.

Long story short I did summer fill with the current gas company last year. The rate was cheaper than normal. Then I ordered and paid up front for enough to get the volume discount on top of that. I was pretty proud of myself. Then I saw what someone else was paying and lost my mind. I swore that this year my current company could go fly a kite and I bought a tank and am switching over.

Anyway last month I called 10 places, 1,000 gal home owner tank prices call to fill. I am going to call again this week for summer fill prices, they come out in July they had said and then I will be changing companies.

The company of large corporate jack wagons I was with is that 2.39 price and they can go suck eggs. That $1.59 price seems like a good wholesome local company that will be getting my business to the North.

I have a rented tank at the house I rent, so I can't shop around. I just got the email about my price lock for the year, $2.399.

I have not filled a tank since I got the outdoor wood burner. I have a 500gal tank dad had a 500 and 1000 gal tank connected.

Owning your tank you get better prices.
I may need to fill with sumer prices if I do get a lp auto back up generator.

I asked a couple companies here if owning your own tank would mean a cheaper price. Because I have owned my own tank for years even though at the time it was a stretch to buy it. The companies I asked said the price was the same for everyone owned tank or not. It seems the mid west has the cheapest prices according to what people have posted now and in the past. It was a lot cheaper this year that the last few.

You'll likely find a cheaper price if you own your tank because you have the liberty to shop around.

Around here I don’t think owning your tank gets you a cheaper price on propane. The price of propane is the same it is just that companies charge a rental fee of a few cents per gallon if you rent or don’t own your tank.

This is not current summer prices but is prices for last October - March. So if I am reading this correctly on 3/27/23 the wholesale price was 0.842 average and the retail price was $1.929 for propane. So looks to me the propane companies were making over $1.00 per gallon. That fact should make everyone feel good(not). The heating oil companies must have more competition as they were working on a lot less margin.

I think the biggest side to owning your own tank is that then you can shop around I can only get propane from the company that owns the tank so I’m stuck with the stupid prices for now

As far as a cheaper price owning your own tank the two companies I asked are the cheapest two. We have several companies where I live and there are two I have found to be the best as far as price and customer service. If you do not own your tank you are getting the shaft. I would advise everyone to purchase their own tank. I can give you a list of the crap these companies pull on their customers that have rental tanks.

You went through 2500 gallons of propane in Indiana? Is your house a 10,000 square foot mansion

I use propane for cooking and the clothes dryer. I heat mostly with wood and only use the propane furnace as a backup. I go through around 200 gallons a year.
