I'm planning on getting a new truck this year. Chev's 2.7L with the turbo seems popular. Any one have any concerns w/ that motor? I don't plan on pulling a big camper or anything of that size. I see it actually puts out more HP than my current '09 Silverado.

I prefer naturally aspirated engines.

My nephew got a 2019 Silverado this spring, lower mileage. He had some trouble with it. They finally put in a new harness and camshaft position sensor and that took care of it. It was warrantied. He loves it

They generally last longer than something turbocharged or supercharged. Smaller engines putting out lots of power is like a light burning very brightly , works good but doesn't last as long.

I'm no turbo fan (pardon the pun) at all. Not only do they overwork the engine, the turbo gives trouble. Then you have the "lag" when going to throttle.

Avoid imo.

I have the 5.7 Hemi and love it. They just need to put the gas stations closer together.

God please keep they 19 fallen UBB miners out of trouble up there.

The other problem with tiny engine is that in order to make it work nearly as well as a larger engine, they design it to run at much higher RPM before shifting. The engine can handle the higher RPM, but the automatic transmission suffers the abuse of much higher RPM.

Time will tell , company I work for just got 40 or so of them.

Just for shift bosses, never tow anything.

Let me sugar coat this

I can't envision myself pulling anything big enough to warrant a 5.7

Got a 3.2 that will run circles around my 5.4 , gets way better gas mileage and no problems since new in 2019.My son has a 2.7 that is also very spirited, great mileage and no problems either.

Probably shuts it off and coasts down hill

I don't think Chevy is the only 1 making a 2.7

My buddy has a new çhev with the small deisl in it loves it. 7lr per 100km great on fuel. Haven't had any problems with the last 2 3.5 twin turbo ford's yet. Been running turbo charged deisl engine for 30 years working never had a problem with a turbo. I have 22000 hours on my 6bt in my skidder and have not had a problem with it. Clean oil and clean air are a must for turbo charged engines.
