Looking for a shade canopy. Have had the cheap ozark trail ones that last a year or two any experience with something better?

We did markets with some of those cheaper thin walled hollow uprights . Do yourself a favor,.thick recessed verticals , solid center lock ups and don't forget to anchor each leg solid.
Purchased through Cabelas.

Hugely important. I've worked with a lot of canopy type stuff at markets. One good gust of wind and if your canopy flys up and comes down , it is toast. Cheap or quality , doesn't matter. There is no fixing them once damaged.

Tie it down good. Old brake rotors / cinder blocks make good weights.

I cannot stress this enough.

Depends what you’re going to use it for and how often. I’d buy two of the cheapest. No matter how good you are you’ll screw up and that thing will go flying end over end and get bent up and then won’t work anymore. I remember being at the beach once and we left it up while we went in for lunch. Hadn’t been inside 10min and heard the crack of thunder. Looked from upstairs and our tent was doing cartwheels towards the main drag. The ONLY reason I went to retrieve it was to finish folding what Mother Nature missed and threw it in a dumpster, then rode to Walmart and bought another, lol.

My 2 cents worth: Carry empty 5 gallon buckets with handles. Stick each leg in a bucket and fill with water. Ratchet strap the tent to the bucket handle. It has worked well for me and is light to transport.

I have nothing clever to put here.
