I was making a deal on an old trap or two and the guy had this hanging from the ceiling in his building. I initially thought it was the “net” portion of a Gibbs Muskrat Net Trap. I inquired and he threw it in with the deal. After comparing it to every picture I can find on the web, I don’t believe this is the Gibbs net trap. Any input would be appreciated!

I am guessing a Hancock live muskrat trap.

Resembles something along those lines but I cannot find anything on the web that indicates Hancock, Bailey or Koro made such a live muskrat trap. It appears to be "manufactured" and not a hand made apparatus. Appreciate the response....maybe Hancock or some other manufacturer made something along these lines and just didn't produce them long. The guy I got it from didn't know what it was but was calling it a "bird trap".

Check the trap collectors guide. It looks like Hancock made 3 different sizes.
