And eating only the head. Mink? Weasel? Just saw a fox trot past but that font sound like fox or coon. Getting them at night in the coop and the owner sees no evidence of how they're getting in. NW Arkansas.
Life ain't supposed to be easy.

I caught 2 coons and a possum during the last week and relocated 3 snakes. Its a busy summer. I could probably have caught more but I tend to let the dogs north them out during the night and they mostly chase them back through the fence if they can't catch them. Currently I have 3 coops .The one I built a couple of years ago, and a couple of new ones under the deck. one to house the geese at night and the other is a brooder at the moment with 4 Jersey Giant chicks in it Not lost one so far to predators. Between the traps and the dogs and my rifle, we are staying ahead of the game thus far. Hope you find the culprit and nail his butt to a wall

Yeah same problem here in pa I probably lost idk 14 birds thus far started setting traps 5 coon 3 possum 2 feral cat s an red fox still running around killing got to get her that an hawks lost a few to hawks every time ya run an an get the gun they fly out of the tree or spot they were the birds I do have left are on high alert sticking close to the house ..these are all free range birds so comes with the territory....when I see headless birds 9 out 10 it's a owl or hawk Hawk or owls do not eat just the head. First thing a bird of prey does is pluck feathers from the chest and abdomen, there will be feathers laying around. Then they hit the cavity, they love the innards. Then they continue to feed on the remainder of the chicken. Once full they're done for a couple days. Missing just the heads it's coon or rats.
