Looks/sounds like another "Tactical" junk scope.

Actually no. They've been really taking the optics world over. So far the only real complaints about them is chromatic aberration. But other then that. Reviews are in and their almost all super positive. I'd post videos but no one ever seems to watch them so smile about the only thing that stacking up to them in the same price range is SWFA.
Regardless is way more then the average guy wants needs or know how to use so their that..

Yes, I would stay away from China scopes if possible. There are some things you just dont skimp on, glass for your guns being one of them...just my opinion

Have EP 5-25-56 & EPL 4 4-16x44 excellent scopes own Vortex Razors, NightForce Atacr, Zeiss LR 5 , LR 3 , and the glass in the Arken, is high quality. The price is where the real savings are, these scope are taking off. Was at PRS 22 LR., Saturday, used my Arken, EL 5 , done real well. Shortest shot 62 yd.s , longest 328 yds. Saw several shooters using the same scope. These scopes are fixing to do as Vortex, did yearts ago. Sell more and price climb.

Well, I guess if YOU think a scope that sells for that cheap is a good thing, have at it. smile
Some just don't seem to learn.

Yeeep made the same mistake not getting either Athlon or Vortex when they where cheap, I ow guys who have first gen scopes still kicking and they paid a fraction what they did

Wolfie, you have a passion for guns..., that's awesome.
Years from now, you will regret spending your money on the junk you buy.
I know myself, getting sucked into buying junk when I was your age.

My advice to you is (if you truly want) good stuff, quit looking for "deals", save your $$ for tried n true stuff.
Get out of the "Tactical Stage".
You'll thank me 20 years from now, (if I'm alive) wink

LOL you are so out of touch . Where do you think the glass is made.

A pertinent fact about Leupold is that they employ approximately 107 optical and mechanical engineers. Not only does Leupold produce its optical and mechanical designs in the U.S., they also build the Mark 5HD in its entirety in Oregon. The only part of the Mark 5HD that Leupold doesn’t make in Oregon are the glass lenses. They set the specifications and then check each one as the scope is assembled. All design, labor and manufacturing belongs to Leupold.

I was told any scope under 500.00 is made over seas. It is impossible to build a scope in the US for less because of labor and that was 5 years ago.

Could honestly care less where it's made as long as it preforms and has the features I want for my prices point. Leupold just plain lacks that for me. Nothing against them as a company. Just is what it is. And when I have guys who shoot or a living and are big scope snobs owning and running every from barska and weaver to S&B March NF Ziess I'm talking $3000-5000 scopes on $6-8000 dollar guns, when I have
Those guys telling me hay I own a few of these and honestly their completely worth it....I mean.

Aslo with talking guys in the optics industry. "Made in the USA" and MADE IN THE USA are two different things.

The US doesn’t really make glass lenses for whatever reason. I assume it’s about costs to setup, manufacture and then compete with established players.

Generally European/German glass is considered top of the heap. It’s pretty to look thru for sure but costs a lot. $3000 is a ballpark entry point. Id assume that makes for a real slim market share. Heck look at gun manufacturers like Ruger or Savage—-how often do you hear about a model 77 or 110 compared to the budget friendly Axis or American these days. Those buying in the European scope glass categories are competing at top levels or have deep pockets for their hobby.

Most glass comes out of Asia—China, Vietnam and Japan. Read somewhere recently that one of the American scope players was looking to source American glass but don’t recall which one. The American companies like Nightforce, Luppy, Vortex use Asian glass. And depending on the model/price point it will be cheap glass and fully manufactured/assembled overseas or it will be high end with final assembly here in states. There aren’t even that many players in Asia making the glass so your Nightforce or Vortex have similar glass just made to individual specs which often is in the coatings. Use to be thst Chinese glass was considered junk but it’s getting better all the time. There’s little difference in quality of glass offerings at the low and middle end of the product lines. So often you are picking model subtle features that appeal to you in the scope

Have several brands of scopes, Bushnell, Weaver, Tasco, Leupold, Meopta, Steiner, Vortex, Zeiss, NightForce, Redfield, Unertl, bought the Arkens EL5, & ELP 4, Have had the Arken,EL 5, side by side with NightForce, Zeiss, and I've looked through a few scopes in the last 50 yrs. It will be hard to bad mouth the quality of glass in the Arken. AS stated above Zeiss, european , (Japanese glass) NightForce, Vortex, Japan. Was skeptical about the Arken, have a old team member of my LRRP team, in a far of place. We stay in touch. Who was a sniper, still a shooter, and he's the person who put me on to Arken, we put alot of rds. down range together, worth every penny. Some might call it junk, but as the saying goes until you look through couple, and put rounds down range. Don't knock it till you try it. I shoot everyday, from 50yds., to 500 plus.

Amazing how much someone knows about a piece of equipment that they have never seen, touched, looked through, or used.

Not sure who you are addressing, or what your point is about Leupold..? I missed where anyone was talking about origins of Leupold...

I have been looking at Arken's website. After I saw your post about the discount I went and looked again and ordered one. Don't really need another scope right now but that's a pretty good deal.
Now I can look for a rifle to put it on. I like looking for rifles.
