Had one for long time, sold it to my brother for his 1st car. I loved that thing, he sold it and got a car, I wish I would have known would have bought it back. I took that bad boy everywhere.....

I had a Chevy tracker. It was a handy little rig. A little too small to trap out of, but it would go anywhere. The only reason I sold it was because parts were very difficult to find at the time. The guy I sold it to is still driving it and it's been almost 10 years

My buddy’s got one. Cheapest side by side you’ll ever own. Gets some decent air time jumping driveways too!

Fried of mine has one. It's ancient but still runs well.

What are they asking for it?
I had one for off road only -- a SxS before SxS were a thing!!! It was AWESOME off-road -- Good times. I wish someone (Kia?) would make them again -- and charge what they did in 1990!!!

Geo/Chevy/Suzuki Tracker/Sidekick/Vitara are Suzuki products and are pretty much interchangeable on parts per each generation. Only the Vitara went on to new generations as the Grand Vitara. Basically an improved, in comfort and styling, Suzuki Samurai. Many Samurai parts will swap and vice versa as will some X90 parts.

The Samurai has a good sized aftermarket following with the track/kick right behind.

Some even swap in Toyota parts like axles or different motors like VW diesel, Mazda rotary, Chevy 4.3 for more hp.

I'm currently shopping for a clean unmolested samurai tintop.

I had a 97 Vitara which is the same. I put over 300K miles on it with out a mechanical hitch at all. It did have structural issues. The front frame cross member was an issue. Mine broke while driving and it was a very weird feeling. There was like a 10 year recall on the crossmember but I was over the 10 year limit. Fouls a replacement crossmember in a junk yard for like $25. A few years later it failed inspection for a rusted out rear crossmember which was between the rear wheels this crossmember was open on both ends then swept dow, across, and back up to the other side. It was the perfect place for mud, grime, and road salt to lay with no way out. I ended up driving a piece of 1-1/2 steel pipe through the frame hole to the other side and through that frame hole. Welded it up and capped each end to keep junk out of it.

One big difference between the Sidekick (Tracker) and the Samurai was that the Sidekick engine could be rebuilt while the Samurai's could not. Some would put a Sidekick engine in their Samurai when the original engine went bad. It gave an engine with much longer life and more HP in a neat 4x4. I wish we had done that when our Samurai bit the dust. You can still see some Sidekicks around on the road but a running Samurai is a rare sight indeed.

What do you mean? You can buy rebuilt 1.3s from basic to hot. There are flat top pistons and 272 cams available for the 1.3. The 1.6 head can be swapped over even.

The 1.6 swap is probably the most common swap as the base 1.3 in the samurai only came with 63 horses. Some of the rebuild shop claim hp into the 90s out of a 1.3.

An outfitter I hunted with in Utah had several to use on his properties to move hunters around. He bought them at a fraction of the cost of what UTVs sell for.

Rebuilds were not available in '98 when our '88 blew up according to my mechanic at the time "They don't rebuild well." We had an older engine put in from a wrecked one and got a couple more years out of it.

Fixing to sell my samurai. Very much alike like mentioned above. Geo has a 1.6 liter. Samurai 1.3 is main difference. Solid axles and 2000lbs leave you with a tuff rig.

The 1.6 oil pan is to low setting to replace 1.3 without a lift kit.

Get it quick or someone will. Love my sami though. Wish I had the mechanical ability to put an engine swap w/alot more horses but I can still do 65 on the highway with 31" swampers by gearing the transfer.

Trash your goals and plans for life. Just wing it and you'll never be let down!

Yes, most of the guys doing that swap have already done the lift for bigger meats and discovered they need more hp to turn them.
