Your either going to pay a bunch or find an old relic in a pasture and spend a bunch restoring it

Everyone has a Camaro or Chevelle...screw that.

Even pay a car car guy to look at it..and give it his blessings

Hard to go wrong with a '64 1/2 - '66. Convertable Mustang. Easy to care for , parts readily available.
One thing to think about , any classic car can get expensive to maintain/restore unless you know how to do it yourself. I've watched many non-car people spend boatloads of cash having other people maintain their classic car.
Most classic cars are owned/restored by car guys.
Most classic cars sell for less than what it costs to restore one. It is a labor of love.

Both very true statements. You can get a much better deal when the nice weather is going out and the car is going into storage. Spring is the best time to sell , not buy. Finding a car guy to look over a vehicle is very smart , even better is finding a car guy who is into that model/make as they are super familiar with its special needs. If I was buying a GTO , Nessmuck would be the guy I would want to look at it. Buying a Mopar , I would seek out a Mopar guy from a car club.

You need to go to the spring Iola Car show in Wisconsin. They bring everything there from totally restored Camaros to Parts cars and everything in between. Used to go there all the time when I was a Teenager. Too bad old Jayson is gone he had Garages of old stuff but when he died his kids sold it all. That was just outside of Shawano on the res.
God please keep they 19 fallen UBB miners out of trouble up there.

I'd start with your budget or limit , and then see what that can buy you as far as model and quality of restoration ,
Do you care if it is a numbers matching car and mostly original ?
As far as Camaros go , they made alot of them , and you can find just about anything you want , prices will be all over the place depending on many factors
I'd look hard at the Pontiac firebird too

I'm driving a convertible right now. Years ago I owned a '71 Mercury Cougar with a 351 Cleveland. Blue with a white top. Currently driving a budget convertible. A '05 Chrysler Sebring. Black with a tan top. They can be had for cheap , $3,000 to $5,000 for a nice one. I got mine for $1,000. But it needs a new top which I am going to do myself for $600 or so. If I had someone do it for me it might cost north of $2,000. Needs a few other minor things but other than that it is a solid car.
