Quebec tried to separate.
When they found out that they could only take a small strip along the St. lawrence river,because the rest was Indian land and the Indians told the frenchmen that they were staying in Canada.
That sort of put the kibosh on those ejits.
Same is true in Alberta or any other Province.

So when a piece of land with a fancy cabin is purchased for over a million dollars the purchaser just owns the cabin and what leases the land. Do you pay for the lease as well as taxes?

There is both private and public land in Canada.Same as in the USA.
Way more public land in Canada than Private.
Anyone can use public land for recreational purposes.
Buisness development on public land needs permits.

No, I own a cabin in Canada and have deed to land and cabin, although it’s far from a “million dollar fancy cabin” lol.
Our cabin is however, surrounded by government land, “Crown Ground”. It’s basically public ground you can cruse over, need a land use permit if you plan to camp on it long term, otherwise your free to travel, hunt, fish on Crown Ground unless posted otherwise.

Not really interested in swapping anything,,,,,
