Wife and I enjoy our travel. we have been to Alaska twice, Spain four times, China, Australia, New Zealand, Peru, and most recently Viet Nam and Cambodia.
It is a waste of money because you have nothing to show for your expenses. It is also a barrel of fun. I enjoy the different foods and markets, as well as the mandatory historical sites.
We take our four grandkids on a three week trip somewhere in the states every summer. This June will be the Pacific North West. No theme parks or amusement parks, only educational sites and tours. We have a blast with them as well. We always discover a hidden gem. One day is banana split day.
We both traveled extensively when we were working as well.

If I'm vacation it's generally were there's less people and hunting is involved. Traveled some for work farthest being Australia. Australia was enjoyable and I'm glad I went but no interest in doing it again. If I'm doing it on my own money it's going to somewhere with fewer people and generally hunting well be the game. I like traveling at my own pace, living out of the back of the truck or SUV , cooking most of my own food, not knowing where I'll spent the night until an hour or 2 before I stop. Spent more the a few nights pulled into a pasture or field entrance in who knows where. Just nothing more relaxing than that. My plan is to be a gypsy when I retire. Haven't broke the news to my wife yet.

Most of my life I was a traveller. The last 6 yrs raising my son alone we do less than I did but yes..I travel quite a bit still. If my hip will take it we may go to rushmore and wyoming this summer. I want my son to experience this great country we live in. Probably do a bit of rest stop and other camping and taking the dog of course.

Used to travel quite a bit internationally. Too old and crotchety anymore. Last big trip was a couple of years ago for wolf work in Mongolia. I'm tired of all the hassles of travel on airlines because of the added "security" BS. Hope to never leave the state again, unless I'm driving my truck full of fishing poles or shotguns.

Traveled all over from my teens to thirties. Had fun and saw most of the US and a couple countries. Happy and content a long time where I am now. All the trapping, fishing and hunting I want right here. Parents are in their 80's and kids, grandkids and greatgrandkids are all close by. Send the Mrs. to Alabama, Florida and Massachusetts to see her other relatives when she wants. I stay home and stoke the homefire. My traveling is regulated to a couple rendezvous by myself usually

Flew to NYC years ago. Not sure why, because I don't like Cities. Regret not picking anywhere else, to be honest. Would have liked to have seen the real America.

Travelled to NW Colorado hunting cow elk for about 20 years. It was in the late season, roads were sometimes pretty dicey. Quit going about 3 years ago. Doubt I'll ever go back. We always drove straight through about 1100 miles. Just too old for that anymore.
Used to spend some winters in Florida visiting the father in law. He and I had some great times ocean fishing. He passed away about 10 years ago. Haven't been back there since. Wife won't fly, I don't want to drive that far.
Remember as a kid we played army and you gave up the fort so the other side got it? Of course you don't. Little kids aren't that stupid.

We are planning an Alaska trip, any suggestions would be welcome! How would you do or recommend doing it? What would you like to do or see? I don't have the experience or suggestions, but folks will be more able to help if you can narrow your goals.

Went to Germany in 2000 with the wife. Took her to DC this summer, so a trip every 20 years or so is perfect
