If you're using a 204 ruger for beaver I'd like to know what you're using for bullets?

I left my 22 mag at home this morning and took my 204 to the beaver patch for the first time. I gotta say that it killed the beaver pdq but it took the top of his head off from nose to ears. I can't remember what grain of bullets I was using but believe them to be Hornady v-max.

Iffn you want them dead, shoot what you like.
For anything bigger than a prairie dog, I prefer a heavier/ stoughter bullet.
I'm not a .204 shooter but have good knowledgeable friends that shot it.

I trust their judgment and overall, the Berger 35 grain bullets seem to shine.

swampgas chili and schmidt beer makes for a deadly combo

You have to remember that 1 out of 3 Democratic Voters is just as dumb as the other two.

The 35 gr Berger is my go to. Very limited options buying it in a loaded round though, so you will likely have to reload them yourself

@Norwestalta Are you saying the 204 is too hard on them?

Overkill? .22 long with solids I suppose has taken more swimming beaver than anything but that would only be my guess. Seems to me most shot beaver are inside 15 - 20 yards.

you can vote your way into socialism, but you will have to shoot your way out.

If you're going to skin the beaver use the .22 Mag, other wise, anything works.

I’m a big fan of my 17 but it has to be the hornady vmax bullets. I used some Remington accu tip This spring and just wasn’t getting the penetration necessary for quick kills

Yes. Severe head trauma. Lol. With my 22mag I can skin right to the nose.
