Yep white Oak and deer prefer them over Red Oaks.

Of course it’s in the white oak family,. Nearly all white oaks have rounded lobes and red oaks have pointed lobes on their leaves. But there are many species of oak trees in the white oak family. I think that was the question.

Bur, chinkapin, swamp, chestnut and post oaks are all in the white oak family.

Very common where I live. Favorite of squirrels, deer, bear, and domestic geese.

I live is a community with two ponds and about 35 domestic geese. The geese love white oak acorns and prefer certain white oaks trees over others. Squirrels, not so much. Deer, definitely have favorites.

Thank you. It's beside another white oak but it's crowded. I thought maybe it was different since the leaves are slightly different.
