Peacocks are bad breeder's. Do to much strutting and not enough of the other. We get about 5 pecent fertile eggs out of the India blues and 8 percent out of the whites. We put 1 batch in a week and use crayon to date eggs. Then we candle them 1 week after, all none fertile are dumped then. Watch temp and humidity plus turn twice a day. Takes about 28 to 30 days.

I have set peafowl eggs to hatch quite a few times, have a great incubator, and have yet too hatch one. As stated, all were infertile!

We found that we had much better success putting peafoul eggs under a hen than in an incubator. Don't know why but over 50% of the eggs under a hen hatch vs (like others said) very few in an incubator.

I've had very good hatching rates for chickens and I have never hatched a peafowl egg, I have only had around 10 at most to try at various times. May want to find a peafowl specific facebook group or site to try and get some species specific information because like most the others on here, no luck for me.

At very least temper your neighbors expectations.

I'm reminded of the story of an old man that was staring at a young punk with a spiked mohawk dyed all colors of the rainbow. Young guy: "Whatsa matter old man, didn't you ever do anything weird or fun when you were young"? Long pause....old man: "Well, as a matter of fact as a young fella I once made love to a peacock....was just trying to figure out if maybe you was my son!"

Does that help Cathryn?

I have had them for years. The best way that I found is with gamefowl hens. Some peafowl hens are good breeders others are not. If anyone has any interest, I am selling out. P.M. me.

Cathryn, setting hens are the best way to hatch peafowl eggs. Having another male to act as a whipping boy, helps greatly with fertility. Angry peacocks breed the hens better. They need a sense of competition. Males without competition breed poorly.

I have hatched some, used an Incuview incubator, the eggs lay on their side instead of upright like my other incubators, don't know if that makes a difference, but had a better than 50% hatch. For some reason only a couple of the chicks made it to adult hood though

hatched hundreds under silkie hens. could get 3 hatches from each hen, just take out the chicks and put in new eggs. Mike
