I see there are a few people trying to sell beaver tails on the Trap Shed with not much luck. I was going to post some as well but it looks like the market is not there. Any ideas why?

The only US tail tannery went out of business. Word is there will be another one coming along but not open for business yet.

County officials figure out that people were using them for bounty payments?

Because the people selling them do so as a whole tail not split or fleshed and expect top dollar for them !

I won't buy tails any more due to this as the tails are usually not frozen or taken care of and when arrive they are worthless to use, I also need certain size for my use and thats a very large tail, which most think they have until they measure them out!

Plus as has been said the only reputable tannery for doing them has retired, and another has not come up to speed yet

Tails have to have a certain give and take when tanned to be used for leather work, and only certain
tanning procedures can do them correctly, lots of home styled tanners try and get a respectively tanned one
however I've yet to see one that will last very long done home style or without a professional working on them
that stands up to the quality I wish to use.

I have searched a long time far and wide to find a pro tanner, either they want to much a half side to be economical to use
or they can't do one that will last with cracking and breaking when used for a wallet, other flat applications for these kind of tan's
seem fine, but wallets and belts for my selling I'm not found one yet !

I can sell a few hundred tanned tails, excellent quality.
