I'm trapping once again in south Texas, north of Laredo, and today's check had a different animal staring down a coyote in a trap as I rounded the corner. A buffalo. Well, actually two buffalo. Bigguns too!
They were just eying the coyote in the leg hold from about 40 paces but hadn't gotten closer as far as I could tell.
They watched me pull up. Do the dispatch. Remake the set. And then decided all was over so away they went their merry way.
I did keep the buggy running the whole time!

Blessings,
Mark

That could very well be a first in the last 100 years!

I have nothing clever to put here.

I think I would have shot the coyote and kept going

I've done that Danny, I trapped two Buffalo ranches and if the beast saw you remake a set it would be for not, when I would return I'm sure you know. The fun ones where live trapping and neading to remove fox and coyotes with curious beasts. Thankfully they couldn't read toy on the truck. grin

One of the reasons I enjoy trapping is you never know what you might see Some times people will say I have seen it all .But trappers seldom say that because they have witnessed so many things that are unbelievable. And yet they saw it with their own eyes I have often said that I have seen things that if other people told me they saw it I would say they where not telling the truth .Thans for the pic and the story And remember those buffalo might look like they can,t run very fast but you don't want to get in a foot race with one

Bison might be fast but the Wildebeest on this ranch (about 30 head) are REALLY fast. I have a 1000cc for a reason.
KICK IT AMIGO! KICK IT!!!

Speaking of danger, I'm holed up today due to rain but the bad guys were out last night and drove a truck through the high fence in two spots. Happens on this ranch about 6-10 times per year. Same area. Once the cartel knows where to run and bust through.... the manager here says they always use the same corridor. This corridor north of Laredo where many of my contracted ranches are is getting worse, not better. I have no answer as to how to change it politically. Everyone in WDC knows what's going on.

Blessings,
Mark
