I used 6penny nails for years, but it will eventually ruin the plywood. At the price of plywood, or any wood these days that's a problem. I switched to horse shoe nails. I had to experiment with different sizes, luckily I had a friend who was a farrier, so had plenty to try. I don't remember which I liked though.

Box nails are the best as they are thinner than most other nails and have heads on them thus are much easier to hammer in and remove compared to other nails.
The only constant in trapping is change so keep learning.

If i ever get a large inheritance I will switch to horseshoe nails...until then it's 6 brites. As it is the last 5 lbs of the brites I bought cost me $5.29/lb

6d hardened finish nails. Smaller diameter is easier in the boards
Common sense is a not a vegetable that does well in everyone's garden.

I personally steer clear of galvanized. Too hard to pull.

I've never used hoops before so I have a question for you that do: What is an average time for putting up a blanket beaver on a hoop and conversely, taking it off the hoop?

I personally steer clear of galvanized. Too hard to pull. Pull them out with my fingers except for a few although I do a lot less beaver than you a year. Probably have brights and galvanized both. This was the only original box I had still. All others are in a plastic coffee can
