I understand the instructions for the bait making solutions that I have purchased but the one question I have is how many pounds of ground meat make a gallon? I searched google and saw answers from 4 to 8.5 lbs per gallon. Any help will be greatly apprectiated.

Good way to measure would be to use a 1 gallon, plastic milk jug. Cut the top section off and fill it. Close enough to measure for a gallon of bait.

it is going to vary based on water content playing extremes dried Jerky is meat and you would stuff a lot of it in a gallon bag vs blood soaked ground the volume is the same the weight is a lot different.

a scale is a very good tool to have around , I have been converting recipes to grams embracing metric it is so easily scalable

and if you know how many grams of oil you add and you have your mixing bowl sitting on the scale hit tare and add pour in that many grams and hit tare again for the next ingredient.

saves clean up also

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Pack a gallon ice cream bucket to the top = a gallon of meat. No need to weigh it.

8-10# of beaver hams + backstraps starts to strain gallon ziplock bags.

Just remember for bottling purposes youll want at least a 1.5gal pail to mix your bait so you can stir without spillage plus your adding a pint worth of liquid to the meat.
