Last March 15 I had surgery on my broken hip.Things did not go as well as hoped .On April 6 I had hip replacement surgery.
Never in my life have I ever had as much pain as I had the 2weeks prior to the hip replacement..My leg and foot were so swollen that my wife had to lift my leg onto the bed,so I could get into bed.Now 8 days after getting my new hip,my pain in my hip and leg is much less and I am able to get in and out of bed with no help. I am not to put any weight on my right leg for 2 weeks'1 week has already gone by. 9 weeks of using a walker has caused my hands and fingers to go numb and a large amount of pain in my right elbow--I am now rehabbing my right hip and my right arm.LOL--it is nice to get home.
Hospital and nursing home food is not the best--I will be frying hamburgers shortly and have already made a pot of real tasty coffee.
I must take my hat off to the hospital and nursing home staff, the nurses and their helpers do a wonderful job--and I thanked them every time I saw them.
Tom

Tom I hope you get well soon! Living so close to the Croix and not being able to get over and put in at beanies must be a real downer. Some of the best memories I have of growing up was hanging out down there at beanies and fishing off the dock he actually let us little grubs do that. Take care and get well soon..

You may have to switch to Irish Coffee for awhile. Take care and remember the goal is to wear that one out and get another. You can do that by Hunting Fishing and Trapping.

Slow and steady with the recovery/rehab. You will be as good as new in a few months. I'm sure you are happy to be home.

I am glad your making progress.

I hope your recovery goes well from here on out and you can get back into a more normal routine. At least with the warmer weather you won't have any more ice to slip on. Get better soon, old boy.

I'm just happy to be here! Today I'm as young as I'll ever be and and older than I've ever been before!

Tom, push the rehab as hard as you can! I had my right knee replaced three years ago. Spent the next seven weeks in a nursing home (you are correct on the food, I lost plenty of weight). Can not speak highly enough of the staff. Most were calling me Uncle Roy by the time I left.
Take care!
Roy

I hope it all works out for you Tom. I've known a number of people that had replacement parts, hips and knees seem to be the most common. I think in every case they were pleased with the end result, it just takes time and a lot of therapy.

I got myself a seniors' GPS.
Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination,
it tells me why I wanted to go there.
