Ah, a sure sign of spring!
(The first T-man post on morels grin )

Looking at 6 inches of snow here tomorrow night. Wish I was hunting mushrooms. Thanks for keeping the dream alive for us northerners.

Life sure is tough when you don't learn from the mistakes of others.

I went out the last two days and only found one. The mayapples here are just now breaking the surface. I usually use those to gauge when prime time is. Usually when I go out and find a bunch, the mayapples are all the way up and I have to sweep them aside to find the morels.

I find most of my morels growing around shagbark hickories, but I can't find much on the internet about the correlation between shagbarks and morels. Seems the main trees people find them around are elm trees according to what I see online. Anyone have a favorite type of tree to find morels around?

I am in northeast Tennessee around 4,000-4,500 ft of elevation and here i find most of our morels around old apple trees, ash trees and around the creeks and rivers under sycamore trees

I might give it a go tomorrow. They should be easy to find, given the current conditions. laugh

Got 30 some last weekend. Shroom, trout and turkey breast is spring tradition!

My 12 year old came home with 20 today. Several were starting to dry up.

Matt its been kinda a tough year so far, either it would be warm and dry or we'd get some rain and it'll drop below freezing at nights. Ive only found maybe 150 so far. This coming week should be good. Found a few today [Linked Image]
