Well,the spinmeisters at the Michigan's DNR have done it again.Some years ago when we had our one and only wolf season the DNR took trapping off the acceptable methods of taking wolves,the scuttle butt was our then Governor Snyder took a dim view of trapping and our DNR bowed to his wishes of hunting only.The DNR never fessed up to it,they ignored all question concerning why trapping was eliminated.Now their spokesman says not all animals are trapped ,that squirrels and rabbits are hunted but not trapped,bears are hunted not trapped,etc.,that's why wolf trapping wasn't allowed.Just like when we passed Proposal G for scientific wildlife management they made some questionable decisions and to justify them they came up with a new one,social management,that we must take in to account the thoughts of those who don't hunt or trap.What a farce.

Synder took a dim view of everything He concluded birdwatchers and hikers were Sportsman so the Pittman Robertson fund could be raided also blocked off roads in Public Land

Last thing we need in the Lower peninsula is wolves !!!

No doubt in my mind I will see wolves in the lower peninsula in my lifetime. Having wolves isn't a problem. Not being able to manage them is.

I'm having a hard time imagining a pack of Wolves this time of year in a beef cattle pasture during calving not being a problem ?? Seems they could cause a whole lot of problems in a very short time.

Its frustrating.Years ago the sportsmen in this state could look up to the DNR on such matters.They've become a smaller version of the Biden Administration"don't look at what we've done,just listen to what we tell you"seems to be their mantra.You can't believe nothing from them anymore,including where they stand on issues.If they think they're going to catch flak from downstate urbanites they'll definitely modify their position to appease them.

Unfortunate is right, since illegal undocumented harvest actually helps their arguement that populations are stable and don't need management through regulated harvest seasons.
