Anyone ever use gunbroker.com to buy a gun. I’m totally new to this idea but found a rifle I’d like to purchase. I have no idea how it works so I’m reading. Is it as easy as just ordering the gun with your credit card then having it shipped to your local gunshop/FFL dealer?

Just looking for encouragement and advice anyone done this?

Yes I’ve bought several and never had a problem. Just make sure the seller has good feedback.

Yes, bought a rifle on GB several years ago. They're legit. Sorta like E-Bay.

Just have things in order on your end. A local ffl who will do the transfer and will be able to send the required credentials so everything goes smoothly on the shipping side. Best to have a talk ahead of time with whoever you choose to use.

Also you make sure to talk to the seller about how they will be packaging the rifle before they ship the rifle. Most gun shops know how to package rifle but lots of private sellers
have no clue about packaging weapons. I've learned my lesson even if it cost more to have the shipper do it right.

If looking for a new gun watch them and know what they sell for. If you are willing to watch them sometimes you can get a real deal. If it is a used gun it can be a take it or wait a while.

See if your local FFL is already in the Gunbroker system, read the terms closely of both Gunbroker and seller.

Just curious, is it legal to ship a gun to yourself?

I bought a rifle off of GB once, it worked just fine. Shop around for FFL dealers, some charge $25, some quite a bit more.

Yes, if you are the one shipping it, and you ship it to yourself.

On GunBroker, in addition to the purchase price, you will have to pay sales tax. And shipping and transfer fees at your local FFL. I would avoid someone who only has a couple of feedbacks. There are scammers out there and you need to be aware of your transaction. Most dealers on GunBroker are big gun dealers with nice firearms looking for a larger customer base than what walks through the door of their shop.

pay attention to shipping

find a dealer local that does transfers and get their info and know what they charge.

you bid on the item , if win you will pay the price + shipping + when it gets to you realer your dealers transfer fee , you get your dealers info to the seller and let the dealer know it is coming so they can call you when it gets there

as long as you know all that you can understand the actual cost

if it is new , just ask your dealer what they can order it for

if it is some used or obscure thing then GB is more likely to be the way you want to go

You don't order a gun on gunbroker. You bid on it. Or pay the buy it now price. Prices are often high on popular guns. There are good deals sometimes.

Some ffls only accept firearm from other ffls. Others will accept from private individuals with proper ID. Know what your ffl will accept.

I’ve bought a shotgun and three rifles online. Pleased with what I got. Bought NIB and used.

Shop around for a firearm licensed individual near you. Prices start around $15 and go to $50. You are paying for paperwork and record keeping.

Think I bought a 20 gauge Win Model 12 and two Rem Model 700s and a Rem Model 7.

Here in KS face to face no FFL is still legal so long as both parties are KS residents. I watch armslist ks. Take a picture of the other guys driver license. Caption it with the gun bought or sold. Lot of dealers advertise there too. ATF hates face to face sales. Oh well. I got no use for anybody who swears to defend the constitution and is entering a job whose purpose is to ignore it.

Have only done it once and it was seamless. GunBroker has a list of LGSs that they already have the FFLs on file and it is easier if you can use one of them. I'd check with the LGS on what they charge for the transfer so there are no surprises. My rifle came from BossFirearmsCo in Texas, was securely packaged and exactly as described. A couple of months later I got a call from Boss. They were cleaning up their shop and found the original box and owners manual, etc and asked if I wanted them. I did of course, and they sent them to me at no cost. That's a great company.
